What is Sectigo Name?

Comodo has sold the Certification Authorization (CA) section but continues to offer other security products such as cWatch and popular antivirus software as Comodo Group.

Considering that they were operating in same sector in both companies and participating in same trade fairs, the use under same name could cause many problems. Unless you follow the developments in the digital certification industry, you had no idea that these were two different companies. It was necessary to change the name to resolve such confusion and rebranded as Sectigo.

Comodo CA is Now Sectigo. So What Has Changed?

This is primarily a branding change, so pretty much anything with Comodo CA branding is being updated to the new Sectigo logos and colors. You will probably notice a difference will be the Sectigo site seal and some of the product names. The eponymous Comodo SSL/TLS certificate line will now be changed to Sectigo line and PositiveSSL and InstantSSL certificates will now carry the words "powered by Sectigo".

What's Doesn't Change with Sectigo Rebrand?

Sectigo will continue to be the company with 20 years of industry experience and the largest market share and as company that has already issued 100 million SSL certificates in more than 200 countries. It just leaves Comodo group and is reborn with rebranding. Although some certificates pass to different names, the products will all have same features.

Will My Comodo CA SSL/TLS Certificate Continue Working?

Yes. All Comodo CA root certificates will continue to be reliable and can continue to be used in conjunction with Comodo CA site seals if you wish or you can replace with new Sectigo trust seal.

When you want to renew your Comodo certificate, the only difference is that you will now be renewed as a Sectigo certificate instead of Comodo.

Will Sectigo Rebrand Change Prices Increase?

No. There will be no change in the certificate prices due to the change of rebranding. Sectigo digital certificates will continue to be sold at the same price as Comodo CA equivalents.

Does Sectigo Have Its Own Root Certificates?

Not yet. Because, Getting a root included in a root program is not neither simple and nor expeditious. Also root programs are undergoing very stringent audits. Sectigo will continue to use the existing Comodo CA roots until it adds its own root certificates.

Which Products Does Comodo Group Continue to Offer?

Almost all Comodo cyber security products that do not fall under SSL/TLS and PKI category are under the auspices of Comodo Group. Comodo Antivirus, cWatch and vulnerability scanners products such as are still sold under Comodo Group.

As a result, products in SSL/TLS and PKI category will now be sold under the Sectigo branding and you will be able to use your existing Comodo CA certificates without any action. When your certificate expires, you can resume using with an equivalent certificate.
